Few words about Macherado village

The village Machairado, is a picturesque village, which is geographically located in the center of Zakynthos in the flat section (village of the valley), and is the second largest village on the island. A fertile place with raisins and grape crops, where the locals cultivate the land throughout the year.

This village, originally known for family winemakers Komoutou (the roots of which go far back to the 15th century, the Byzantine Empire, Venice), exporting traditional Zakynthian wine throughout Greece and abroad, with notable success.

The St. Timothy and Maura church

Also Machairado is famous for its majestic church "St. Timothy and Maura" which dominates the village square with its Venetian bell tower, it is said that the sound of the bells of the most melodious in Greece. The church is built in 1886, becoming one of the attractions of the village. Each time the first ten days of July held a festival in her honor.
